What Happens in an Energy Healing Session
You’re here because you want to understand what actually happens in an energy healing session.
Maybe you’ve heard about energy healing from someone you trust. Maybe you’ve been drawn to it for months, or even years, and you’re finally ready. Maybe you’re curious but uncertain about what to expect.
I want to walk you through the entire process—what happens from the moment you decide to book a session to the days afterward when you’re integrating everything that shifted.
But first, there’s something you need to know.
Energy healing can happen in two ways. There’s in-person healing, where you come to a physical space and we work together face-to-face. And there’s distant healing, where the work happens remotely while you’re in your own environment, living your normal life.
Both are real. Both are powerful. Both create tangible shifts in your energy system.
The process is different between them, and before we go any further, I want you to understand what each one looks like. Then I’ll walk you through exactly how I work—because I offer distant sessions, and I’m going to show you why this approach creates some of the deepest, most sustainable healing my clients have ever experienced.
Let me start by explaining what most people are familiar with.
In-Person Energy Healing: What It Looks Like
In-person sessions follow a traditional format.
You arrive at a practitioner’s space. You sit down together and talk. The practitioner asks you questions—what brought you here today and what you’re experiencing in your body and emotions.
Then you move to a healing table. You lie down, fully clothed, and close your eyes. You can tell the practitioner whether you prefer hands-on or hands-off work, and they’ll place their hands on or just above your body accordingly as they begin working with your energy field.
As they work, they’re sensing where blockages exist. Where energy has become dense or stuck. What patterns are present in your system. They’re using different healing modalities—Reiki, crystal therapy, sound healing, energy clearing—to support the release of what’s ready to move.
As the energy healing continues, you might feel warmth spreading through your body. Tingling in your hands or feet. Waves of emotion rising and releasing. Deep relaxation washing over you. Or your experience might be quiet and subtle, almost like drifting near sleep.
The session lasts 60 to 90 minutes.
When it ends, you sit up slowly. The practitioner offers you water. You talk about what you experienced. Then you leave, and the integration process begins on your own.
This is what most people picture when they think about energy healing. It’s intimate. It’s focused. You’re physically present for the entire experience.
And it works. In-person sessions create real healing.
But there’s another way. A different approach that many of my clients have found even more transformative.
Distant Energy Healing: A Different Way to Receive
Distant healing works differently, and I want you to really understand this because it might change how you think about what’s possible.
In distant healing, the work happens remotely. You don’t come to a physical location. You don’t need to travel anywhere or clear your schedule or take time off work. You can be in your own home, in your own space, going about your day.
The practitioner works with your energy field from a distance, and the healing reaches you wherever you are.
I know what you might be thinking: How can healing work if we’re not in the same room?
Here’s what you need to understand. Energy isn’t bound by physical location. Your energy field extends far beyond your physical body. It’s not contained by the walls around you or limited by distance.
A trained practitioner can connect with your energy field and work with it whether you’re sitting three feet away or living on the other side of the world.
Think about your phone right now. There are signals moving through the air all around you—Wi-Fi, cellular data, radio waves. You can’t see them. You can’t touch them. But they’re real. They’re functional. They reach your device and allow connection to happen.
Energy works the same way. It exists. It moves. It reaches you.
When I work with your energy remotely, I’m connecting to your field and supporting the release of what’s ready to shift. The distance doesn’t diminish the healing. If anything, it allows the work to integrate more gently into your life.
Here’s why I love the distant approach: in traditional in-person sessions, we talk and process during the work. Your mind is active, analyzing, trying to understand. This can create resistance. With distant sessions, it’s pure energy work. There’s no mental interference. No resistance. The focus is fully on shifting the energy itself, which often allows deeper work to happen.
Many of my clients specifically choose distant sessions because they find them less overwhelming than in-person work. The healing unfolds more gradually. There’s space to process. And because you’re not sitting still on a table for 90 minutes while intense energy moves through you, your system can receive the shifts at a pace that feels manageable.
Now let me show you exactly how I work with distant sessions, because my process is unique. It’s not just one healing session—it’s a supported journey that unfolds over several days.
How My Distant Sessions Work: The Complete Process
When you book a distant session with me, you’re not booking a single 90-minute appointment. You’re entering a process that begins before the main healing work and continues with support for days afterward.
This is what makes distant sessions so effective. You’re not alone with the shifts. You’re guided through the entire experience.
Let me walk you through what happens, step by step.
Before We Begin: Your Intention
When you first reach out to book your session, I’m going to ask you to set an intention.
What are you ready to shift? What do you want to release? What are you hoping will change in your life?
Your intention doesn’t need to be complicated or perfectly articulated. It just needs to be honest.
It might be something like:
- “I want to release the anxiety I feel about my job”
- “I need to process grief from my relationship ending”
- “I want to feel more connected to who I actually am”
- “I’m ready to let go of patterns that keep repeating in my life”
Write it down. Send it to me. Your intention creates the direction for everything that follows.
You might also share with me what you’ve been experiencing—physical symptoms, emotional patterns, situations that feel stuck or heavy. Anything you want me to know. All of this helps me understand where your energy needs support.
Once we’ve set your intention and confirmed your session date, you can relax. You don’t need to prepare anything else. You don’t need to meditate or journal or do energy work on your own. You’ve set the intention. That’s all that’s required.
Now the healing process can begin.
The Night Before: Opening the Energy
The night before your scheduled session, I start working with your energy field.
This is when I tune in to you for the first time. I’m connecting with your system. I’m sensing what’s present. I’m feeling where blockages exist, where energy has become dense, what patterns are running beneath the surface.
I’m not doing the full healing work yet. This part is about opening the process. Creating a pathway. Preparing your energy field to receive the deeper work that will happen the next day.
Think of it like loosening soil before planting seeds. I’m creating space in your system. I’m beginning to shift what’s ready to move. Most importantly, this process starts releasing any resistance your system might be holding. I’m letting your energy know that healing is coming.
You don’t need to do anything during this time. You might be sleeping. You might be watching television or cooking dinner or going about your evening. The work happens energetically, beneath the surface of your conscious awareness.
Some of my clients notice subtle shifts the night before their session. They sleep more deeply than usual. They have vivid dreams. They wake up feeling different—calmer, lighter, more open.
Other clients don’t notice anything at all until later. Both experiences are completely normal. Your system receives in its own way.
Session Day: The Main Healing Work
The next day—your scheduled session day—this is when the main healing work happens.
And here’s what makes distant sessions so unique: you don’t need to stop your life to receive this healing.
You can be at work. You can be at home with your children. You can be running errands, taking a walk, sitting in a coffee shop. You can go about your normal day, doing whatever you would normally do.
The healing reaches you wherever you are.
While you’re living your life, I’m working with your energy field. I’m moving through the blockages I sensed the night before. I’m clearing the dense energy that’s been stuck in your system. I’m bringing in healing frequencies. I’m working with Reiki, sound healing, crystal energy, energy clearing—whatever modalities your unique energy is calling for in this moment.
I’m following what your system shows me. I’m responding to what wants to shift. I’m supporting the release of what’s ready to leave.
This focused healing work usually takes 60 to 90 minutes. But because you’re not lying still on a table, because you’re moving through your day, the energy integrates more gently into your body. You’re not overwhelmed. You’re not flooded with sensation. You’re receiving the healing in a way that feels woven into your normal rhythm.
This gentle, nurturing approach is especially important for empaths and highly sensitive people who can easily become overwhelmed by intense energy work. The integration happens at a pace your system can handle, with natural support woven throughout your day.
What you might notice during the session day:
Some people feel the healing as it’s happening. You might notice waves of emotion coming up out of nowhere—sudden sadness, unexpected tears, a release of tension you didn’t know you were holding. You might feel physical sensations—warmth spreading through your chest, tingling in your hands, pressure releasing from your shoulders. You might suddenly feel exhausted and need to rest. You might experience mental clarity about a situation that’s been confusing you for weeks.
Other people don’t feel anything during the session itself. Their day feels completely normal. They don’t sense the healing happening. And then, days later, they realize everything has shifted. Maybe you handled a difficult situation differently without even thinking about it, and only noticed afterward. Maybe that boundary you’ve been struggling to set suddenly felt natural and easy. Or maybe you didn’t feel anything at all because the shifts were so subtle they bypassed your thinking mind entirely.
Both experiences are valid. Both mean the healing is working. Your system receives in its own way, at its own pace.
You don’t need to be meditating during the session. You don’t need to lie down or create special space for it. You don’t even need to think about it. The healing finds you. Your energy receives it. That’s all that needs to happen.
After the Session: What I Share With You
Once the healing work is complete, I’ll send you brief session feedback and any intuitive messages that came through for you.
This gives you context for what you might be experiencing and helps you understand what to pay attention to as you integrate the shifts.
The Three Days After: Integration Support
Here’s where my process differs significantly from most other practitioners.
The healing doesn’t stop when the session ends. Energy continues moving and reorganizing for days afterward. Your system is processing what shifted. Your body is integrating the changes. Your emotions are releasing what was stuck.
This integration period is just as important as the healing session itself. And I don’t leave you alone to navigate it.
For three days after your session, I’m with you through the integration process.
Over these three integration days, I’m holding energetic space for you. I’m available over WhatsApp for you to share your experiences and ask questions. This is where my coaching work steps in. I may guide you through what you’re experiencing, offer coaching support, or recommend self-care practices like taking a bubble bath, resting, or spending time in nature—whatever your system needs to support the integration.
If something intense comes up during these three days—if you’re experiencing a healing crisis, if emotions are overwhelming, if you have questions about what you’re feeling—you can reach out to me. You’re not navigating this alone.
This ongoing support is what makes distant sessions so effective. You’re not left to figure out integration on your own. You’re not wondering if what you’re experiencing is normal. I’m guiding you through it, helping you understand what’s unfolding, supporting you through the process.
By the end of the three days, the major shifts have stabilized. Your energy has found a new baseline. You’re more grounded in the changes that occurred. And you have clarity about what shifted and how to continue supporting your healing journey.
What You Experience After a Distant Session
The shifts from distant energy healing often appear gradually, unfolding over the days following your session.
In the first 24 hours:
You might feel deeply relaxed. Calm in a way you haven’t felt in months. Lighter, like something heavy has been lifted off your chest.
Or you might feel emotional. Old feelings might surface—grief you didn’t know you were still carrying, anger that’s been suppressed for years, sadness about situations you thought you’d already processed.
If emotions come up, let them move. Don’t push them down. Don’t judge yourself for feeling them. This is energy clearing from your system. It needs to come up so it can finally leave.
You might feel unusually tired. Your body might ask for more sleep than normal. This is your system integrating the shifts that occurred. Rest supports that process. Honor what your body is asking for.
Some people experience what’s called a healing crisis. This is a temporary intensification of symptoms as your body releases what it’s been holding. You might feel more anxious for a day or two. Physical pain might spike before it starts to improve. Emotional overwhelm might increase briefly before it dissolves.
If this happens, don’t panic. It’s a normal part of deep healing work. It means your system is clearing. It usually passes within 24 to 48 hours. And remember, I’m here supporting you through it.
In the days following:
The most significant shifts often become apparent 2 to 5 days after your session.
Physically, your body functions with more ease. Tension you’ve been carrying for months or years might finally release. Chronic pain often decreases or resolves completely. Sleep improves—you fall asleep more easily, stay asleep through the night, wake feeling actually rested instead of exhausted. Energy levels typically increase. That persistent fatigue that nothing else has helped starts to dissolve.
Emotionally, you might notice you’re responding differently to situations that usually trigger you. There’s more space. More calm. More capacity to choose how you engage instead of reacting automatically. You might cry more easily—not from being overwhelmed, but from finally releasing what you’ve been holding. Old grief processes and completes. Suppressed anger surfaces, moves through, and dissipates. Joy becomes more accessible. Patterns that kept repeating start to shift.
Mentally, clarity emerges. That foggy, overwhelmed feeling lifts. Decisions that felt impossible suddenly feel obvious. Confusion dissolves. You understand situations that were previously overwhelming or unclear. Your mind functions better. Focus improves. Creativity often increases. Ideas flow more easily.
Spiritually, many of my clients describe it as “feeling more like myself than I have in years” or “reconnecting with parts of me I thought I’d lost.” You feel more connected to yourself—to your intuition, your inner knowing, your authentic nature. You trust yourself more. You hear your intuition more clearly and follow it more readily. There’s often a sense of alignment that emerges, like you’re finally living in accordance with your true self.
What supports your integration:
During the days after your session, there are simple things you can do to support the healing work that’s continuing in your system.
Drink more water than usual. Your body is flushing released energy from your system, and water supports that process. Stay hydrated.
Rest when you need it. Don’t push through fatigue. Your body is integrating significant shifts. Give it the rest it’s asking for.
Spend time in nature if you can. Walk outside. Sit in the sun. Touch the earth with your bare feet. This helps ground the energy shifts into your physical body.
Move gently. Stretch. Walk. Do yoga if that’s part of your practice. Movement helps energy continue flowing through your system instead of getting stuck again.
Journal if insights are coming through. Write down what you’re noticing, what you’re feeling, what’s becoming clear to you. This helps integrate the shifts at a conscious level.
Be gentle with yourself. You’ve just done deep healing work. Treat yourself with the same care and compassion you’d offer a close friend going through something significant.
Choosing Between In-Person and Distant Sessions
Both approaches work. Both create real, lasting healing. The question is what resonates with your energy and fits your life.
In-person sessions work well if:
You want the experience of being physically present during the healing work. You prefer face-to-face connection with your practitioner. You have the time and ability to travel to appointments. You’re drawn to the ritual of going somewhere specifically dedicated to healing.
Distant sessions work well if:
You don’t have time to travel or take time off work for appointments. You prefer receiving healing in the comfort of your own environment. You want a gentler integration process that weaves into your daily life instead of being a single intense experience. You value ongoing support during the integration period. You live far from practitioners you resonate with.
Many of my clients specifically choose distant sessions because they find the integration easier. The healing unfolds more gently. They’re not overwhelmed by sitting through 90 minutes of concentrated energy work. They receive the shifts while living their lives, which allows the changes to anchor more naturally into their daily experience.
The three days of coaching support also makes a significant difference. You’re not alone with what comes up. You’re not left wondering if your experience is normal or trying to figure out integration on your own. You have guidance and support through the entire process.
Wrapping Up
You came here curious about what actually happens in an energy healing session. Now you know.
You understand the difference between in-person and distant work. You’ve seen exactly how the process unfolds—from setting your intention, through the night before when the energy starts opening, to the session day itself, and the three days of integration support that follow.
You know what you might experience. What shifts can emerge. How your body, emotions, mind, and spirit respond when blocked energy finally clears.
If you’ve been curious about energy healing for months or even years, this is what you’ve been wondering about. This is what happens. This is how it works. This is why it’s so powerful.
Energy healing creates space for what’s stuck to move. For what’s been held to release. For you to return to the natural flow your system has been seeking all along.
If this resonates with you, trust that feeling. Your energy already knows what it needs.
Questions You Might Have
How many sessions will I need?
This depends entirely on what you’re working with and how your system responds.
Some people experience profound shifts in a single session. The issue they came to address resolves or transforms completely, and they feel complete with the work.
Others benefit from multiple sessions, particularly when working with deep patterns that have been present for years, chronic physical conditions, or complex emotional healing that needs to unfold in layers.
There’s no prescribed number. After your first session, we’ll talk about what you’re noticing and whether additional sessions would serve you. I’ll share what I sensed and what might benefit from continued work. You always choose what feels right for your journey.
What if I don’t feel anything during a distant session?
Many people don’t feel the healing happening during distant sessions. This doesn’t mean nothing occurred.
Your system might be processing at levels beneath conscious awareness. The shifts might be happening in ways your conscious mind doesn’t register in the moment.
Pay attention to what you notice in the days after your session. That’s often when the real changes become apparent—better sleep, more calm, physical symptoms improving, emotional patterns shifting.
Can energy healing help with physical issues?
Energy healing addresses the energetic roots of physical symptoms.
Many of my clients experience significant improvement in physical conditions—chronic pain, digestive issues, sleep problems, tension, fatigue, headaches. The physical body responds when energetic blockages clear.
Energy healing works alongside medical care. It’s not a replacement for working with your doctor or other healthcare providers. If you have a medical condition, continue with your medical treatment while also supporting your healing with energy work.
Is distant healing as effective as in-person?
Yes. Energy isn’t limited by physical distance.
Some practitioners and clients actually find distant sessions more effective because the healing integrates more gently into daily life. There’s less intensity in the moment and more sustainable integration over time.
The results are just as real, just as powerful, just as transformative.
What if I’m skeptical about whether this will work?
Skepticism doesn’t prevent energy healing from working.
You don’t need to believe in energy healing for your energy system to respond to it. Many of my clients come to their first session feeling uncertain or doubtful, and they still experience real, tangible shifts.
Approach it with openness and curiosity. Be willing to notice what you notice. Let your actual experience inform your understanding, not your expectations or doubts.
Now you understand what actually happens—from setting your intention, through the night before when energy starts opening, to session day and the three days of integration support that follow. Hi I am Megan. I’m an empath from South Africa. I found my path as a healer in my 20s—not because I had it figured out, but because I knew deep in my soul I was meant to heal others.
For 15 years, I’ve walked this path—not because it was easy, but because it’s my soul’s calling.
I know what it’s like to absorb everyone’s emotions, to feel too much, to wonder if being this sensitive means something is wrong with you.
Here’s what I discovered: Your empathy isn’t the problem—it’s that nobody taught you how to work WITH your sensitive system instead of against it.
Now I help empaths transform through the trinity of mind, body, and soul healing—because surface fixes don’t work when you feel everything at a cellular level.
This is my life’s work. Empath to empath. Heart to heart.
